How to Restore the Missing "Update Now" Button in AWStats via cPanel

If the "Update Now" button is missing in AWStats within your cPanel, you can manually enable it by modifying the configuration file.

Steps to Enable the "Update Now" Button:

  1. Access the Configuration File:
    • Log in to your server via SSH as the root user.
    • Navigate to the AWStats configuration directory:
      cd /home/username/tmp/awstats/
  2. Edit the Configuration File:
    • Open the configuration file for your domain. Replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain name:
      vi awstats.yourdomain.com.conf
  3. Modify the Update Setting:
    • Locate the line:
      AllowToUpdateStatsFromBrowser=0
    • Change the value from 0 to 1:
      AllowToUpdateStatsFromBrowser=1
  4. Save and Exit:
    • Save the changes and exit the editor.
  5. Verify the Change:
    • Refresh the AWStats page in cPanel. The "Update Now" button should now be visible at the top of the page.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q1: Why is the "Update Now" button missing in AWStats?

A1: The "Update Now" button may be disabled by default to reduce server load. Enabling it allows users to manually update their website statistics.

Q2: Will the "Update Now" button remain visible permanently after enabling?

A2: Not necessarily. cPanel may overwrite the configuration during daily updates. To prevent this, you can change the file permissions to read-only:

chmod 444 awstats.yourdomain.com.conf

Q3: Is there a way to enable the "Update Now" button for all users via WHM?

A3: Yes. In WHM, navigate to:

WHM >> Tweak Settings >> Stats and Logs

Then, enable the option: "Allow users to update Awstats from cPanel".
