Product Overview

Overview

UCDN (SurferCloud Content Delivery Network) service, i.e. Cloud Content Delivery Network, is a distributed content delivery network built on the networks of multiple providers. Relying on edge servers deployed in various places, it enables users to get the content they need in the vicinity through the load balancing, content distribution, scheduling and other functional modules of the central platform, reduces network congestion, improves the response speed and hit rate of users' access, and greatly improves the number of concurrent accesses to avoid the adverse effects of single-point failure.

Features and Advantages

SurferCloud Content Acceleration System is a completely self-developed content acceleration software system, which is an important part of SurferCloud's public cloud and has been operating online for more than five years. The features and advantages of the product have gradually become obvious, with more than 250 self-built nodes deployed, 500+ converged nodes around the world, an operating bandwidth of nearly 6.5Tbps, and more than 300 service customers. The system supports on-demand, download, web page and other static file acceleration.

  • All-in-one solution: Backed by the SurferCloud cloud platform, it provides an all-in-one solution for data collection, processing, storage and distribution.
  • Flexible and customizable: Self-developed cache system, not relying on open-source system limitations, can flexibly support personalized needs, and provide customized services for customer needs.
  • Safe and accelerated protection: Provide protection for user safety through anti-stealing chain or IP restriction strategy.

Key concepts

Accelerated domain

The domain that the user needs to be accelerated, usually owned by the customer.

CDN domain

User's domain is the bridge to access SurferCloud CDN. When the accelerated domain passes the audit, the system will generate a CDN domain, and you need to use this domain to modify the corresponding CNAME record to realize the CDN's intelligent address selection and scheduling.

Source IP or domain

The site (either in SurferCloud or in a third party) where the user actually provides services to the public network by IP or domain.

Content Refresh

Content refreshing means deleting a specified directory or file from an acceleration node, so that user requests can be retrieved from the source again. When you want users to see the latest information in a timely manner, you can use this manual cache refreshing method.

Prefetching files

Prefetching simulates the user's first request on all acceleration nodes and caches specific content in the CDN nodes to improve the user's first download experience and reduce the traffic back to the source.

The biggest difference between web acceleration and large file acceleration or video-on-demand acceleration is mainly based on the attributes of the files to be accelerated:

  • If the resources to be accelerated are mainly small static files such as pictures and documents, then web acceleration is preferred, because small files are updated quickly, and it is inefficient to manually refresh and prefetch them by human beings, which is a waste of human cost.
  • If the resources to be accelerated are mainly large files and installation packages of more than 30M, then large file acceleration is preferred.
  • If the resources to be accelerated are mainly videos, then prioritize video-on-demand acceleration.

Page Acceleration

Page Accelerator distributes static content such as web pages, images, text, etc. to server nodes around the world, thus significantly improving the responsiveness and usability of your website. In addition, for security reasons, Page Accelerator also provides anti-stealing function to protect website content from being intercepted.

User Problems:

  • The website has many files and the access speed is slow;
  • During the operation and promotion period, the high number of requests caused by high concurrency requires high performance of the source station;
  • Easy to be attacked\stolen chain access.

Business characteristics

  • Access to more resources, the need to separate dynamic and static content, dynamic resources need to use the whole site acceleration products.
  • Access to smaller files, the type is mainly html\css\js, etc..

Applicable scenarios: portals, social networking sites, e-commerce sites, government sites, enterprise portals and news media sites.

Large File Download Acceleration

UCDN accelerates video files, game installation packages, software, patches and other downloadable content to provide customers with download acceleration solutions. By uploading large files to the nearest server node, the UCDN platform is able to intelligently deploy the files and distribute them to nodes all over the country, which not only solves the problem of insufficient bandwidth but also allows users to experience faster download services.

User Problems:

  • The burst bandwidth brought by highly concurrent downloads puts high pressure on the performance requirements and bandwidth costs of the source station;
  • Users can not download or download too slow, or easy to download interrupted.

Business Characteristics

  • Irregular bandwidth bursts, and resource concentration, high hit rate requirements.
  • The size of the main resources is more than 20MB, and the types of resources are mainly apk\exe\zip and so on.

Applicable scenarios: game industry, software download sites, distance education, book application providers, etc.

Video-on-demand acceleration

Video-on-demand acceleration is used to accelerate video files by uploading the content of the source station to the data center, then distributing it to the edge servers nationwide through internal private protocols, and transmitting it to end-users in combination with streaming media technology. This improves the user's viewing and browsing experience, and improves the problems of slow access and viewing lag.

User Problems:

  • The burst bandwidth brought by highly concurrent access puts high pressure on the performance requirements and bandwidth costs of the source station.
  • User access to video lagging, viewing is not smooth.

Business characteristics

  • Irregular bandwidth bursts, and resource centralization, high hit rate requirements.
  • Main resources, resource types are mainly mp4\m3u8\ts, etc..

Applicable scenarios: online video sites, distance education MOOC and other streaming media service sites.
