Introduction to VPC and Subnet

VPC

Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) is a user-owned, logically isolated network environment. In the VPC, you can create a VPC with a specified network segment, create subnets in the VPC, and manage cloud resources independently. When creating a VPC, you can plan network segments independently and flexibly assign network segments to the VPC. The current range of network segments supported by the VPC is as follows:

  • 10.0.0.0/8 (10.0.0.0-10.255.255.255) Mask range: The maximum is /8 mask, and the minimum is /29 mask.
  • 172.16.0.0/12 (172.16.0.0-172.31.255.255) Mask range: The maximum is /12 mask, and the minimum is /29 mask.
  • 192.168.0.0/16 (192.168.0.0-192.168.255.255) Mask range: The maximum is /16 mask, and the minimum is /29 mask.

Subnet

In order to scientifically and effectively divide the address space within the VPC, it is divided into finer-grained network segments. These independent network segments are called subnets. Cloud resources in the subnet support cross-availability zone deployment, providing strong protection for cross-availability zone disaster recovery. The smallest mask of the subnet segment is /29 mask. When there are cloud resources in the subnet, the subnet cannot be deleted.

VPC Network Interconnection

Networks within the same VPC are interconnected by default, while networks between different VPCs are not connected by default.

Product Quota

The default quota for each account is as follows

NameQuota
The number of VPCs in each region100
The number of subnets for each VPC200
